Overview
Visiting Diu from Jamnagar
Diu was a Portuguese territory until 1961, and the island still shows it in its whitewashed churches, narrow lanes and the great sea fort guarding the harbour. It is a Union Territory, separate from Gujarat, with a relaxed pace that makes it popular for a weekend away.
The drive from Jamnagar is roughly 250 km. Many travellers combine Diu with Somnath, around 90 km along the coast, for a two-day trip by the sea.
